Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a progressive gum infection that can gradually develop into an aggressive condition requiring extensive dental treatment. Though the majority of adults encounter gum disease at some point, it is preventable and easily treatable if caught in the early stages. If left untreated however, gum disease can cause irreversible damage to the soft tissue and bone.

Soft Tissue Grafting

If your teeth are looking long or you believe your gum tissue is receding away from the base part of your teeth, getting soft tissue grafts can predictably cover areas of missing tissue. Part of having an esthetic, healthy smile is making sure your gum tissue is in the right spots.

Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)

While most adults over the age of 30 have some degree of gum disease, deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) is required when gingivitis goes untreated for too long and works its way down to the foundations of the tooth causing a “periodontal pocket.” Deep cleaning removes the bacteria from these pockets and creates the necessary conditions for proper healing.
