Village Dental’s endodontic goal treating a tooth is to save and repair diseased or injured teeth. Endodontic treatment is concerned with treating the inside of the tooth or the “dental pulp.” Root canal therapy is probably the best known endodontic treatment. After endodontic treatment the tooth is sealed and a crown placed on the remaining tooth structure restores the health and functionality to damaged teeth.
Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.
